Me and my investing mates love platinum group metals as well as gold. We buy physical bullion through online exchanges, which is then stored in custody. Cheaper to buy and store than using ETFs like we used to, and why own a paper security when you can have more security and own the physical metal for less? W looked at 2-3 services but opted for the guys at MyCommodity.com because it was cheaper and easier to use than GoldMoney.

David Einhorn at Greenlight Capital sold his fund's huge stake in SPDR Gold ETF (world's largest) for exactly these cost reasons and maybe more - http://realitylenses.blogspot.com/2009/07/david-einhorns-greenlight-capital.html

PLatinum has proved a better performing investment for me than gold. It is a very difficult metal to mine, creates a lot of pollution, and the deposits are often found in unstable regions.

I am biased towards Gold so would not offer any answers for Platinum's investment potential
